Why scanning at Abacus is the best
You cannot obtain excellent printed results without perfect origination. Scanning on a drum scanner has always offered the optimum pre-press solution for print quality. The drum scanner at Abacus can take flexible originals up to 610 x 533mm (24 x 21 inches), colour transparencies (slides) and colour photos. But a scanner alone is not the solution without the knowledge to work it correctly. Danny Segal, our repro specialist has over 25 years experience in this field and has been supplying Abacus with high resolution scans for the last 20 years.
This knowledge and skill is second to none whether it is printing a postcard from a transparency or a large fine art reproduction from a flexible original water colour. Danny’s skill together with our state of art screen drum scanner has been, and will be, the cornerstone of the Abacus quest for quality and perfection in print.
A couple of years ago Abacus abandoned working with film and moved into an entirely digital pre-press environment. All pre-press processes are now linked via the Screen ‘Trueflow’ system to provide an efficient cost effective environmentally friendly pre-press process. This links in one solution, scanning to plate making via a computer to plate system. This information is then channelled directly into the Komori 4 colour printing press, where the colour controls are pre-set automatically to the job on the press. The results speak for themselves.
We at Abacus strive for perfection in print. Scanning on the drum scanner remains the best starting point to ensure accurate colour reproduction.
